What is NIS2?

The NIS2 Directive (Network and Information Security 2) is an updated European Union directive focused on cybersecurity.

The directive aims to improve the cybersecurity resilience of critical infrastructure and essential services within the EU, and to enhance cooperation among EU member states for handling cybersecurity threats.

NIS2 expands the scope of entities required to comply with cybersecurity regulations, covering more sectors than its predecessor (NIS).

The directive establishes stricter security requirements, including incident reporting and risk management.

It also introduces stronger enforcement mechanisms, including penalties for non-compliance.

Who does it affect?

Compliance with the NIS2 Directive is mandatory for all medium and large-sized organizations providing certain critical services and critical infrastructure, which operate in the EU. NIS2 extends the scope of sectors to include:
