Hedge Fund Macrosynergy Partners Invests in Next-Generation Cyber Security
London Fund Selects Darktrace Technology As Part of Proactive Defense Strategy
Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has announced that the London-based hedge fund manager Macrosynergy Partners has selected Darktrace’s award-winning technology to help defend and protect its data and systems.
Macrosynergy Partners manages a global macro discretionary trading fund, launched in January 2010, which invests in foreign exchanges, rates, credit and equity, and associated derivatives. Dedicated to providing competitive risk-adjusted returns on investment to its clients, Macrosynergy has identified cyber security as a strategic priority, in the context of an increasingly complex digital environment and growing investor demands for robust and resilient information infrastructures.
In December last year, the firm selected Darktrace’s self-learning Enterprise Immune System appliance to continuously monitor its network activity, as part of its strategy of gaining total visibility of all its digital interactions and proactively identifying potential cyber risks.
“At Macrosynergy, we take the protection of our information assets very seriously. We realised that we needed to be ahead of coming regulation in this area, and we took proactive steps to improve our understanding of our network activity,” said Conor Claxton, Chief Operating Officer, Macrosynergy Partners. “Darktrace shines a light onto our systems, giving us a visual overview of what’s really happening ‘under the hood’ – instead of relying on guesswork. Investors are increasingly demanding best-of-class technology to defend their managed assets, and Darktrace’s ‘immune system’ solution gives us that.”
“It is a privilege to work with firms like Macrosynergy Partners, who are leading their industry in adopting the cutting-edge technology to proactively defend its critical data and trading systems,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO of Darktrace. “Thanks to the easy installation process and intuitive Threat Visualizer interface, the Enterprise Immune System is well-positioned to help protect the hedge fund industry at large, without necessitating extensive security expertise and specialists.”
Named ‘Technology Pioneer’ by the World Economic Forum, Darktrace is one of the world’s leading cyber threat defense companies. Its Enterprise Immune System technology detects previously unidentified threats in real time, powered by machine learning and mathematics developed at the University of Cambridge, which analyze the behavior of every device, user and network within an organization. Some of the world’s largest corporations rely on Darktrace’s self-learning appliance in sectors including energy and utilities, financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and transportation. The company was founded in 2013 by leading machine learning specialists and government intelligence experts, and is headquartered in Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, including offices in Dallas, London, Milan, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, Toronto and Washington D.C.
