Protect Yourself from Online Deception and Scams
Darktrace will never send unsolicited messages from branded social media or messaging accounts — especially those related to cryptocurrencies, financial offers, or investment opportunities. Moreover, we will never ask for payment via social media or messaging apps, or in cryptocurrency or payment cards. If you receive a message that seems suspicious, please follow the instructions below. Online scams are becoming increasingly common across platforms such as Instagram, Signal, and WhatsApp. These scams aim to deceive individuals into sending money or disclosing personal information. Common red flags include:
Unsolicited messages from unfamiliar accounts
Urgent language prompting immediate action
Pressure to engage or respond quickly
Promises of financial gain followed by requests for payment or sensitive data requests for payment by cryptocurrency, payment cards, or other non-standard means
Darktrace is unable to help resolve individual cases of scams or retrieve financial losses from those scams – these cases must be reported to law enforcement. Outlined below are steps you can take to report any scams to Darktrace which will help us take steps to prevent future scams.
If You Receive a Message from an Account Claiming to Represent Darktrace:
Treat it with caution, and assume it is not legitimate unless you can verify otherwise
Avoid clicking any links in the message
Do not share any personal, financial, or login information
If in doubt, always reach out via the form on this page
If you are a Darktrace customer who has been impacted by an attack, please report the incident through your Customer Portal account for the fastest access to support.
If You Believe You’ve Been Targeted:
If you have sent any money or disclosed sensitive information, contact your local law enforcement authority as soon as possible
Email scam-report@darktrace.com to report the incident to Darktrace. Please include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Details of the problem
- Please include as much details as possible, including names of individuals, phone numbers, social media accounts, website addresses, payment details, dates & times.
- Please do not include any personal or sensitive information such as National Insurance / social security, date of birth, financial account numbers, credit card numbers, driving license numbers, health or medical history.). - Confirmation if any payment been made as a result of this scam.
- If the scam has been reported to law enforcement.
- Confirmation that Darktrace can contact you with further questions, if necessary.
While Darktrace can not provide assistance retrieving lost finances and this must be handled by law enforcement, we will use the information provided to pursue the removal of channels being used in these scams to prevent them reaching more people.
