We're looking for curious and tenacious teammates to join our Early Careers program. We’re offering a non-traditional direct path into cyber security without the need for a university degree.

Cyber Analyst Trainee
First 6 months
After a carefully-crafted 12-week starter plan designed to bring you up to speed quickly, you enter a 4-6 month curriculum before taking a Cyber Analyst exam
Senior Cyber Analyst
~2.5 years
Our Senior Cyber Analysts hold intermediate knowledge in multiple core areas of analysis. They interpret problems, exercise judgement, and mentor more junior teammates.
Associate Principle Cyber Analyst
~4.5 years
Our Associate Principals have an advanced but broad knowledge level with wide ranging experience in technical skills. These seasoned individuals work independently and are top advisers on complex issues.
Principal Cyber Analyst
6.5 years and beyond
By this point in time, our Principals are seasoned individuals with deep technical expertise and recognized by as subject matter expert in their field. They are strong tactical decision makers and have organizational wide impact.

What is the interview process?
1. Application and Eligibility checks
We review your written application against the essential criteria for the program.
2. Recruitment Screening Call (virtual via Teams)
A 30-minute conversation with an internal recruiter to understand your motivations, communication style and general fit for the pathway. More details will be sent in the confirmation to candidates.
3. Business Interview 1 (virtual via Teams)
A chance to meet existing Cyber Analysts. A competency-based interview that focuses on problem-solving, communication, curiosity, and your potential to grow. An excellent opportunity to ask about a “day in a life” of a Cyber Analyst.
4. In person Assessment/Interview Day (Cambridge / Dallas office)
A chance to meet the team, learn more about the role and take part in a variety of activities relating to the job role of an Analyst.
We’ll keep you informed at every step and make sure you know exactly what’s coming next.
How can I prepare for the interview?
Since this programme is designed for school leavers, you’re not expected to have industry experience. Preparing simply means thinking about your interests, achievements, and what excites you about a career in cyber security.
- Review your application answers to ensure you can talk through examples provided.
- Think of situations where you’ve learned something new, solved a problem, worked in a team, or shown resilience.
- Research the company and understand our mission, products, and the career pathway you’re applying for.
- Practice speaking out loud, even if it feels strange; it helps with confidence and clarity during the interview.

What should I wear to the interviews?
Our offices are typically business casual, with individuals opting for what they feel is comfortable and appropriate for their role. We ask that all clothing is respectful and appropriate to an office environment but allow individual choice and comfort.
Is there parking and what is the best public transport?
Cambridge:
- Our Cambridge office has onsite parking; All our spaces are signposted with ‘Darktrace’ at the end of the bay.
- The office is a 20-minute walk from Cambridge North train station and is also located close to local bus routes.
Dallas:
- Our Dallas office has plenty of onsite parking.
Are these roles full time or part time?
The roles in our Early Careers programme are full time permanent positions.
Where will I be working?
The positions in the Early Careers programme are hybrid, as are most of our roles. We value the benefits of in-person collaboration. The positions will require 2 or 3 days in the office so that you can learn from the team and exchange ideas with your colleagues. These positions cannot be remote, and you must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the office.
Does Darktrace host social events?
Yes – our offices regularly host a variety of social events, both formal and informal, with attendance always optional. In many locations, employees also organise their own activities, such as lunchtime running clubs, board game and pizza evenings, and events to celebrate initiatives like charity days or International Women’s Day. Teams often come together for larger events, including summer and winter parties, and many colleagues also choose to socialise outside of work.
What's the typical day in a life of a Junior Cyber Analyst?
Every day can present new, exciting challenges and learning experiences. Some common tasks a Junior Cyber Analyst will take on are technical report writing, monitoring the internet for cyber news, investigating real-time live alerts on the Security Operations Centre and supporting customers through a variety of calls.
What does the training and support look like for this program?
Our training is structured to build up knowledge from week-to-week using a mix of live training sessions, videos, documentation, labs, shadowing, and hands-on practical exercises. All of this is accompanied by a mentor who you’ll be buddied up with when you join but you’ll have the entire team on hand to support you too.
How is the Early Careers program structured?
The entire program lasts 18 months. After a structured 12-week training plan followed by 3 months of topic-based self-led learning, we’ll start you on time-based rotations around different skill pathways to support your career development further. Each skill rotation lasts 2 months, with the final 4 months of the program culminating in secondments across other Darktrace teams.
