Technologent
Technologent is a global edge-to-edge IT solutions provider specializing in data center modernization, cloud, cybersecurity, and managed services for large enterprises.
The challenge: Protecting the business—and the trust behind it
As a trusted partner to Fortune 1000 organizations, cybersecurity is foundational to Technologent’s reputation. Any lapse could impact not only internal operations, but also customer trust and market credibility.
Like many organizations, Technologent faced a fragmented security environment. Traditional tools delivered visibility at the perimeter and endpoint—but left critical blind spots across internal network activity.
Key challenges included:
- Limited visibility into east-west traffic and lateral movement
- Inability to detect anomalies beyond known signatures
- Resource constraints limiting continuous manual monitoring
“We practice what we preach,” says CISO Jon Mendoza. “Cybersecurity is inseparable from our mission.”
The solution: Self-Learning AI to drive proactive security
Technologent turned to Darktrace’s Self-Learning AI to move beyond reactive security models. Instead of relying on predefined rules, the technology continuously learns what is “normal” across users, devices, and workloads—allowing it to detect subtle, novel threats.
“As a practitioner, you have to get it right all the time—but threat actors only have to get it right once,” says Mendoza. “We needed a tool that could act even when we weren’t at the helm.”
Initially introduced as a reseller, Technologent gained confidence in Darktrace through customer success—and ultimately deployed it internally to both strengthen its own defenses and demonstrate real-world value to clients.
Deployment: Building trust through a phased approach
Technologent deployed Darktrace seamlessly into its environment, starting in Human Confirmation mode to validate performance before enabling autonomy.
This phased rollout allowed teams to:
- Observe AI-driven detection in real time
- Build confidence across IT and security stakeholders
- Validate value before enabling automated response
Early results quickly surfaced previously unseen activity, including:
- Unexpected internal scans
- Unusual credential usage
- Anomalous data transfers
In one instance, Darktrace identified a large internal download consuming bandwidth during a critical business period—enabling rapid resolution without time-consuming manual investigation.
As trust grew, Technologent enabled Autonomous Response, allowing the system to contain threats in real time.
Strengthening resilience, accelerating growth
For Technologent’s leadership team, the adoption of Darktrace delivered measurable impact across both risk management and business performance.
Autonomous, AI-driven security has reduced operational burden while materially improving the organization’s ability to detect and contain threats in real time. This combination of greater resilience and increased efficiency has allowed teams to shift focus from reactive response to strategic initiatives.
At the same time, the investment has created clear commercial value. By deploying Darktrace internally, Technologent can demonstrate proven outcomes in its own environment—enhancing credibility with customers and accelerating sales conversations.
“When customers see how we operate in our own environment, it builds immediate trust,” says CISO Jon Mendoza. “We’re not just recommending a solution—we’re running our business on it.”
This dual role as both practitioner and provider positions Technologent to engage at a more strategic level with its clients, moving beyond technology discussions to become a trusted advisor on cyber risk.
Equally important has been the strength of the partnership. Darktrace’s collaborative, high-touch approach ensured rapid time to value and sustained alignment as Technologent scaled its use of AI across the organization.
